Smart Spectral Processing (SSP) is a proprietary algorithm that actively integrates Raman and FTIR spectral data, using the results from one to refine, challenge, or confirm the interpretation of the other. The VipIR features a library array of 39,000 entries, including controlled substances, explosives, chemical warfare agents (CWAs), toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), toxic industrial materials (TIMs), mass-transported chemicals, chemical precursors and intermediates, industrial compounds, and commonly used consumer-use chemicals.

VipIR is designed for simplicity, requiring minimal training. Its intuitive interface and one-button SmartID system make operation easy, while first responders’ existing familiarity with Raman and FTIR further reduces the training burden.
