In-process monitoring of critical process parameters (CPPs) is essential for efficient and cost-effective cell manufacturing. The demand for closed, automated CPP monitoring solutions is high, but integrating analytical capabilities as Process Analytical Technologies (PATs) into cell production workflows has been hampered by the limitations of existing bioreactor platforms. Similarly, non-viral genetic modification processes, which often rely on external equipment like Nucleofector® Systems, involve manual fluid transfers. A truly optimized bioreactor platform should offer reliable, closed, and automated transfer of target cells.

Peter Szaraz, received his PhD in Molecular Medicine at the University of Siena in 2010. After his Post-doctoral studies at the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto he worked on the development and clinical translation of cardiovascular regenerative therapies till 2020. He has been a Senior Scientist at Lonza for the past 5 years, working predominantly on the Cocoon® platform for CAR-T therapies.
