Automated Monitoring on the Quantum Flex

Learn how Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies’ Quantum Flex cell expansion system and 908 Devices’ MAVEN can work together to help your cells thrive and optimize your cell expansion process.

Combining Terumo BCT’s Quantum Flex platform with 908 Devices’ MAVEN will help cell therapy manufacturers reduce time-consuming manual steps that increase manufacturing costs and risks. It will also help advance the development of life-saving cell and gene therapies by providing insights into and control of one of the largest components of cell therapy development and manufacturing.

Automated monitoring of glucose and lactate on the Quantum Flex Cell Expansion System

Knowing what is happening inside your bioreactor is critical for cell expansion

Glucose and lactate concentrations can serve as leading indicators of the health and growth kinetics of your cells. When considered alongside perfusion rate, these metabolic indicators can help optimize media usage and harvest time. Quantum Flex paired with MAVEN from 908 Devices brings you continuous monitoring of glucose and lactate levels inside your bioreactor.

MAVEN integrates easily with Quantum Flex. The device clamps securely to the Quantum Flex bag pole, and a single-use diffusion flow cell is sterile-welded into the waste line of the Quantum Flex Cell Expansion Set.

Only the small glucose and lactate molecules from the bioreactor medium diffuse through a semi-permeable membrane inside the flow cell, moving into a transport buffer solution. The solution travels through the tubing to a biosensor inside MAVEN.

MAVEN analyzes the glucose and lactate concentrations. Results are available in near-real time and can be read on your computer using installed software.
