908 Devices has an immediate opening for a full-time Electrical Engineer located in the Boston, MA office. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, test and integration of electronic assemblies that are employed in the company’s standard products, test systems and research platforms. This position will work with scientists and engineers in a research and development environment to develop and refine breadboards, prototypes, test equipment and production designs. We strongly value hard-work, and attention to detail, and we foster an extremely collaborative environment, but also seek candidates able to work toward common goals with minimal supervision. Candidates must be able to manage multiple projects and tasks with aggressive deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Circuit analysis (simulation, signal integrity and noise analysis)
  • Management of fabrication and assembly services
  • Firmware and CPLD/FPGA design
  • Electronics test and debug
  • Sub-system integration
  • Documentation
  • Agency test and certification


  • BSEE / MS / PhD or commensurate experience
  • Significant experience with electronic test equipment, board-level/system-level debugging and hand assembly of prototypes (soldering, cables, etc.)
  • Notable experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium)
  • Experience with an analytical instrument manufacturer is a plus
  • Some digital design experience (e.g. microcontrollers, FPGAs, serial interfaces, etc.)
  • Familiarity with UL/CE/FCC testing is a plus
  • Comfort with chemistry and/or physics is a plus
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and an interest in working at a start-up pace
