Analysis of aromatic hydrocarbons in straight run naptha’s and other gasoline blending feedstocks is an essential refinery product composition test. This is done to monitor and control concentrations and toxicity levels of benzene, toluene and total aromatics. Adequately separating, identifying and quantitating the 50+ aromatics commonly found during the processing of such mixtures ensures that the total aromatics levels in finished gasoline product are kept within the limits specified by regulatory authorities.
The G908 analyzer can detect and quantify the full range of aromatic compounds present in hydrocarbon mixtures such as naptha’s and other gasoline feedstocks, in a fraction of the time it takes to do this by regular GC. G908 uses a combination of ballistics GC and high-pressure mass spectrometry (HPMS) in selective ion mode (SIM) along with flame ionization (FID) detection. Results are provided in a single report, significantly increasing productivity.
